Student Writing Resources
Writing Center Tutors Available for the School of Nursing
We are pleased to announce that the UVA Writing Center tutors are available for all nursing students free of charge. The UVA Writing Center is a resource staffed by graduate and undergraduate student tutors. Tutors work one on one with students. They can help with drafting, revision, argument structure, and other special concerns. Several of the tutors are trained to work with non-native speakers of English. Although they can offer help at every stage of the writing process, they do not provide proofreading or editing services.
To access the latest schedule and availability, visit the University of Virginia Writing Center website.

APA Style
The UVA School of Nursing's standard is that academic papers adhere to the standards set forth by the 7th edition of the APA manual.
Preparing papers in APA style is challenging, but it is also essential to your education. A bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) involves developing and fine-tuning writing skills you will frequently use in your professional and academic life. The time and effort put into creating thoughtful, well-written papers will pay off with better grades and make you a critical thinker with scholarly ability - thus enhancing your value as a nurse and member of an intellectual community.
View the APA Style tutorial for a quick guide to changes from the 6th to the 7th edition of the APA manual.
