Intramural Funding

Please read the Intramural Funding Overview for an overview of the purpose, available assistance, and process for intramural funding awards at the School of Nursing.

Pilot Data Intramural Funding

  • To support preliminary research to increase the strength and success of proposals for significant external funding (e.g. R01, Program projects, U awards or    similar scope from RWJ Foundation, PCORI, CDC).
  • Open to all faculty members of the School of Nursing. This has a rolling due date to allow for preparation of grants with different deadlines.

Jeanette Lancaster Endowment Fund of Faculty Excellence

  • To support the School’s research and teaching mission and the professional development of nursing faculty. The funds available for distribution will be equally divided to support research and education.
  • Open to all faculty members of the School of Nursing who have completed the report from any previous award(s), have no carry-over funds and are not a senior administrator.
  • Funded by the Nursing Alumni Association.

Katharine M. Donohoe Clinical Research Award

  • To support clinical research projects in the School of Nursing
  • Eligible award recipients include graduate nursing students, nursing faculty, and partnerships between nursing faculty and/or graduate nursing students and nurse clinicians. Preference is given to partnerships, and in particular those partnerships that include clinicians at the UVA Medical Center. Non-tenure track faculty members, new investigators, and DNP students are encouraged to apply. Research projects should focus on clinical nursing research aimed toward testing clinical practices to improve patient care. Preference is given to projects that explore chronic health conditions.

Oscar and Ruth Lanford Research Award

  • To support research projects that meet the needs of chronically ill people regardless of their age.
  • Open to faculty members employed by the School of Nursing; more than one award may be given each year.

Nightingale Research Award

  • To provide summer support for tenure track, non-tenured faculty members employed by the School of Nursing.
  • Funded by the Nursing Alumni Association.
