How should I access Poll Everywhere?

  • Navigate to https://www.polleverywhere.com/login and enter your @virginia.edu email address.
  • Continue to login with NetBadge.

Should I use Canvas with Poll Everywhere?

  • It is possible to access Poll Everywhere directly in Canvas. Steps can be found on the UVA Learning Tech website.

What are “activities” in Poll Everywhere?

  • Activities refers to the different question and response types available in Poll Everywhere.

How do I start and end an activity?

  • To start an activity, activate it from your dashboard or from the question view.
  • To end an activity, deactivate it from your dashboard or from the question view.
  • Note that only one activity can be active at a time.
  • If you have a group of activities, be sure to activate the first question in the series.

How can students access and respond to my activities?

  • Students can access and respond by navigating to your Poll Everywhere site address (pollev.com/_____) on any browser.
  • Students can also download the Poll Everywhere app and enter your site address into the box when prompted.
  • Some activities will allow participants to text a response. This is not available for all activity types.
  • When displaying an activity, the response options will be shown in the header of the question view.

Should I limit responses to only registered participants?

  • Not at this time. Confirm that Everyone is selected for your response settings.

How do I share my screen during a Zoom meeting?

  • Activate your desired activity within your browser window.
  • Share your screen within Zoom and select the window showing the Poll Everywhere activity.
  • Click on Full Screen on the activity control panel. This will maximize the view for all participants.
  • While sharing you can still utilize all of your Zoom controls.
  • Click on Full Screen again to return the Poll Everywhere window to the standard browser size.

Can I see a report of my activities?

  • Yes! Log into Poll Everywhere and click on Reports then create a new report of your desired activity.

Poll Everywhere Apps:

  • The Poll Everywhere app allows participants to respond using a mobile device. While participants can use the web browser on their mobile device, the app is a more streamlined and engaging process. Consider suggesting to students to download the app for use throughout the semester. It’s free to download and use!
  • The Poll Everywhere Presenter app allows presenters (you) to launch activities and view results from your mobile device. This requires NetBadge authentication when logging in. Please note - it is not recommended to launch and run activities from this app if you plan on sharing the results screen during a Zoom session.
